— A popular Rutland restaurant has closed.

South Station, located at 170 Main St,, along U.S. Route 7, across from the Vermont State Fairgrounds, closed its doors March 18.

Customers who showed up at the restaurant at 11 a.m. Monday found the doors locked and the eatery closed.

Members of a local Rotary Club were surprised when they were asked by the management to move a planned lunch meeting from South Station to another dining facility March 18.

Officials at Gillam Hospitality Group, owner of the restaurant, were unavailable for comment.

Gillam Hospitality is the owner of South Station Restaurant, the Trolley Tavern, South Station Catering Co., and the Bakery Stop.
